Can Parents and Kids Train Jiu-Jitsu Together?
Published May 30, 2026
Yes. Parents and kids can absolutely train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu together, and it is honestly one of the best things a family can do side by side. It is the entire reason AMP exists. We are not a gym that happens to have a kids class — we are a family training center where the mat is something you share.
Here is what that actually looks like. Your kids train in age-appropriate classes, and you train too, often in the same building at the same time. Instead of sitting in the parking lot scrolling your phone while your kid takes a class, you are on the mat learning the same art they are learning. Some families train in the same sessions, others stagger by age, and plenty of parents start training because they got tired of just watching.
The payoff goes way past fitness. Your kids see you struggle with something new, stick with it, and get better. That is a lesson you cannot teach with words. You build something together that has nothing to do with screens, and you all speak the same language at dinner. The community around the gym becomes your community.
It is also just convenient. One place, one schedule, the whole family handled.
If you have ever thought about doing something real as a family, this is it. Book a free trial and come on the mat together.
