Preschool BJJ
Preschool BJJ is the earliest, most powerful start a kid can get on the mats. At ages 3 to 5, kids aren't really learning Jiu-Jitsu yet — they're learning how to learn. How to listen. How to fall and get back up. How to be physical with another human safely. The Jiu-Jitsu comes later, and it comes faster because of everything they built here.

Little ones ages 3 to 5. No prior experience required — most of our preschoolers have never been on a mat before. Shy kids, wild kids, cautious kids, big-feelings kids — we've coached all of them.
- Listening to a coach and following instructions in a group setting
- Body awareness, balance, coordination, and how to fall safely
- How to be physical with another kid without anyone getting hurt
- Cooperative play, turn-taking, and handling small frustrations
- The first real building blocks of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu — positions, base, movement
- Confidence stepping into a new room and trying something hard
- Short, high-energy 30-minute classes built around how preschoolers actually learn — games, repetition, lots of high-fives
- Coaches who are trained to work with this age group specifically — not a teen instructor running a kids class
- Parents are welcome to sit on the mat with hesitant kids for the first class or two — we've been there
- Age-appropriate belt and stripe progression so kids feel their progress
- Small group sizes so every kid gets eyes on them every class
- A safe, padded, supervised room — no rough stuff, no contact drills, no pressure

Is BJJ safe for a 3 or 4 year old?
Yes. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the safest martial arts for young kids because there is no striking. Preschool classes are 30 minutes, taught on padded mats with coaches trained for this age, and built around movement games — no rough contact.
What if my child is too shy or too wild?
We've coached both, every week. Parents are welcome to sit on the mat for the first class or two if your kid needs it. Class size is kept small so every preschooler gets eyes on them.
How long is a preschool BJJ class?
30 minutes — the sweet spot for a 3 to 5 year old's attention span. Long enough to learn something real, short enough to leave wanting more.
